I thought from the picture it looked like you were in Iowa! My mom spent her last 15 years in Ida Grove, up in the northwest corner of Iowa. I visited her many times and lived there with her during her last 2 1/2 months as she was dying from pancreatic cancer. The people of her town were so warm, caring, and supportive, that Iowa will forever have a soft place in my heart.

So well put, Jen and Mark. I love your definition of ashram and five testimonties of how you should live, from your Quaker heritage. Good luck and blessings on your journey. I saw a comment you left on Tentblogger and was intrigued enough to come give your a look.

It's in the bible because Exodus is a NARRATIVE. It's merely telling the story of what happened — not necessarily to provide a role-model or anything either.

God's trying to say that He'll use anyone to display His awesome power. When Jesus came to Earth, who/what was He most against? Yes sin/unrighteousness, but also those of a religious nature! Personally, I don't think God wants us to be so self-righteous, as many churches today seem to infer. Abstaining from sin? Absolutely, as much as you can, but to be all "HOLIER THAN THOU" seems just...

I'm saying, you've cocked a big gun here, bro. Be careful!

Hi Jen,

I read that article around the same time and had the same sort of response. We have been remodeling the house we just bought and when we moved I got rid of a lot of "stuff" I don't know why we had! We are still in the process . . .

I love that you have internalized the concept to fit you! My mom bought me Robyn Griggs Lawrence's book and while we loved the ideas we are both born again belivers and, as you know, the source of our true peace is the Living God, not a tea ceremony, although we can appreciate the idea of taking time to meditate :) especially on God's word.

Anyway, just wanted to jot a not. Enjoyed looking at your blog. Just started my own at http://wabi-sabi-dreams.blogspot.com stop by sometime :)

Tori, I believe this is an accurate address. As, I said I got it from Kari Gibson, and I believe this is her home church. I trust her, but you can get a hold of her via twitter @MyCrazyAdoption or her website: http://www.mycrazyadoption.org

Thanks for your willingness to help!!!
